Should I take a vitamin E supplement?
The short answer is no! It is very possible to obtain adequate vitamin E through a well- balanced diet. Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin, which means that our liver stores it and releases it into our bodies when it is needed. Taking a vitamin E supplement increases your risk of developing a toxicity, which can lead to negative symptoms such as: nausea, fatigue, weakness and diarrhea.
Vitamin E can also interact with certain medications such as: Warfarin, aspirin, anti-epileptic medications, as well as non- steroidal anti- inflammatory medication. This is why it is imperative to discuss with your dietitian or doctor if you are on any medications and are considering taking a vitamin E supplement.
